A roleplay is only as strong as its base guidelines, and for that we ask that all rules be read before entering Monster Hunter Infinite. This thread contains the rules for in-character, out-of-character, and character creation.
Please note that there is no infraction system currently in place. We'd love to keep it that way, so please follow the few rules we have!

a: out-of-character rules
[+] this is not a rule per se, but you should know that the staff members' inboxes are not the right place to ask your questions. Please go to the FAQ topic first to see if your question was answered, and then go to the board for questions and answers if you need to ask a question!
[+] do not under any circumstances direct insults at another member in a public place. If you have a problem with another member, please sort it out privately.
[+] we're very lenient in terms of language-- really, you can say almost everything you want-- but we draw the line at nasty curses aimed at any specific group of people.
[+] don't spam mindlessly. Since you're out of character, your posts obviously won't have to meet a word count or even be entirely coherent, but please don't spam.
[+] in the same vein: no double posting without necessity.
[+] as of right now, there is no system for becoming a staff member. If the site admins are seeking staff and would like for you to join the team, you may be contacted. Until that happens, kindly don't ask to be made a mod.
[+] above all, keep in mind respect. This goes for fellow members as well as the staff. Just be sensible.
[+] the out-of-character rules apply to both the OOC boards and the cbox.

b: character rules
[+] there is currently no limit to the number of characters you may have on your account. This is, however, subject to change.
[+] for every character you have, you are required to have a link to their profile in your signature.
[+] all character must be human or wyverian. In case you're wondering, wyverians are nearly identical to humans with the exception of their pointy ears and their habit of walking on the balls of their feet.
[+] your character may start with one weapon of either Rare 1 or Rare 2. If you're not quite sure what this means, please consult the two sections dedicated to weaponry for a list of weapons, found here.
[+] similarly, your character may start out with a full set of armor of either Rare 1 or Rare 2. If you still don't know what this means, consult the two sections dedicated to armor for a list of all those available, also found here.
! pertaining to the previous two rules is the following. In order to have anything beyond standard starting equipment (any Iron or Bone base-tier weapon, and Mafumofu or no armor), hunters must include how they obtained said items in their history, whether it be a hand-me-down from a former master, or having once been a hunter elsewhere before their transfer to Northguard. [+] equipment and items belonging to a hunter should be placed in a post following that of your character's. This post, along with your starting equipment, and the following starter items - five Potions, two Whetstones, and one BBQ Spit - inside of it must be posted before your character can be accepted.
[+] the minimum age for a monster hunter is sixteen. You can make a character under that age, but they won't be able to get a hunting license or venture onto the hunting grounds.
[+] felyne assistants can be hired by any hunter who can afford them. A hunter may have one felyne assistant only, and the player of the character who hires the felyne will also be responsible for roleplaying that felyne. Do remember to care for them properly.

c: in-character rules
[+] standard role play etiquette applies: please do not seize control of other players' characters, and please do not make your character invincible, because your character is definitely not invincible.
[+]items and rewards are controlled by random chance, and given out by mods. Every hunter participating by the end of a quest is given the exact same reward items, in the same quantity. Hunters who gather for items are given them during the mod's post, however only the hunter who gathered receives them.
[+] boss or "large" monsters are created in the thread and are role played by staff members. Unless in the case of an Epic Hunting Quest or otherwise specified in quest notes, no more than two large monsters can appear, generally due to unstable environments. Powerplay rules apply to them as well.
[+] minion monsters, on the other hand, are a bit different. Members of any rank may spawn and role play any minion monsters that appear in the map they're hunting on. However, only three monsters can appear and be active at the same time.
! this means that if one roleplayer spawns three velociprey, all three of them must be killed or escaped from before any other roleplayer in the thread spawns more minions. [+] to handle combat with ease, we employ the standard rule of drama instead of a point system. This means that you fight the monsters the way you think is best situated, and best fits your character, and you'll defeat your quarry in time. We feel this method will be easier on all ends, allowing members to role play the way they like to and get rid of unnecessary mathematics. Nobody enjoys that amount of work for simple attacks!
[+] all purchases will be made with the zenny you will accumulate through posting and completing quests. Purchased items go to a character's inventory, which is usually kept in a second post in the character profile.
[+] though we have no official word limit, please try to write at least a decent paragraph in each post. It's not necessary to add needless "fluff" for length augmentation, however.
